Blurry Vision

Blurry vision is very common. The answer to why you have blurry vision is best answered by an eye care professional or an Ophthalmologist here at Batra Vision. Some conditions that cause blurry vision are easy to treat, but others require quick medical attention. Schedule an appointment with Batra Vision today to get a thorough diagnosis.

Serious Causes of Blurry Vision
People with cardiovascular conditions and diabetes need to be especially vigilant when any vision problems arise, as these can signal serious systemic health problems as well.

  • Eye Occlusions
  • Retinal Detachment
  • Cataracts
  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Macular Degeneration

Dry Eyes

Dry eye is the loss or reduction of the eye's ability to produce normal tears. Dry eye syndrome is a common issue and can be exacerbated by environmental conditions. In addition, dry syndrome is associated with inflammation.

People with dry eyes may experience the following symptoms:

  • Eye irritation
  • Gritty, scratchy or burning eyes
  • A feeling of something in their eyes
  • Excessive watering

Dry eye treatment can vary significantly among eye care professionals so it is important to see an eye doctor that has a history of success treating dry eyes.

Eyelid Issues

The eyelids are the main protective structures of the eyes. In addition to being a physical barrier blocking out foreign particles and ultraviolet light, the eyelids also contain structures important for maintaining a smooth, clear tear film and healthy ocular surface. Eyelid anatomy is complex, and degeneration or dysfunction of its tissues may result in various eyelid disorders.

Common eyelid issues are:

  • Ptosis - Eyelid ptosis occurs when the upper eyelid droops down over the eye.
  • Dermatochalasis - Dermatochalasis is the condition of excess eyelid skin. In the upper eyelid, this excess skin may hang over the eyelashes and interfere with visual function
  • Ectropion - Ectropion occurs when the eyelid turns out and is no longer in contact with the eye.
  • Entropion - Entropion occurs when the eyelid turns in and causes the eyelashes and eyelid skin to chafe against the eye.
  • Chalazion - A stye or chalazion are eyelid cysts or lumps that can occur at any age. These eyelid issues are many times present with a case of blepharitis.
  • Blepharitis - Blepharitis is an inflammation along the edges of the eyelids. The eyelids can become irritated and itchy, and appear greasy and crusted with scales that build up on the lashes.

Night Driving Problems

Many people experience night vision driving problems and as we age much of this can be related to developing cataracts. Don't worry this can be fixed via surgery and is one of the most popular surgeries performed today in the US. Batra Vision has some of the most experienced cataract cataract surgeons in the San Francisco Bay area.

The following eye conditions can cause night vision problems:

  • Nearsightedness – the inability to clearly see objects far away
  • Cataracts – the clouding of the eye’s lens
  • Vitamin A deficiency – an important vitamin that is key in transforming nerve impulses into images in the retina

Halos

It is not uncommon that people report seeing bright circles when they look directly at light sources, such as headlights or lamps, especially at night. Sometimes they are harmless and just a typical response from the eye or may even be simply a result of wearing glasses or contact lenses. However, these halos can also be a red flag, especially when other symptoms happen at the same time. They could be a side effect of other diseases, such as cataracts.

Astigmatism

Astigmatism is when the front surface of your eye, called the cornea or lens, has imperfect curvature rather than being round. Astigmatism symptoms are pretty easy to spot – eyes that feel tired or strained, frequent headaches, trouble driving at night, squinting, or blurred vision at near, middle or far distances.

  • Blurred or distorted vision
  • Eye strain or discomfort
  • Headaches
  • Night vision problems
  • Eye Squinting

Distance Vision Problems

When you have distance vision problems you are experiencing myopia often referred to as nearsightedness. Myopia is treatable with glasses, contact lenses, laser vision correction and the Visian ICL. Feel free to come visit Batra Vision for a distance vision evaluation. We can make a big difference in your quality of vision with a simple procedure.

Trouble Reading

If you are having trouble reading you are experiencing some form of hyperopia or presbyopia depending on your age. Every good pair of eyes eventually gets old and with age comes a condition called presbyopia. Presbyopia, which usually begins to set in some time around 40, occurs when the lens of the eye begins to stiffen, making near vision (such as reading books, menus, and computer screens) blurry. You may have this age-related farsightedness if you notice yourself holding the newspaper further and further away in order to make out the words, and you may begin to experience headaches or eye strain as well.

What Our Patients Are Saying

It has been amazing to be able to wake up with 20/20 vision. Dr. Batra and his staff helped make the surgery a piece of cake. I can honestly say that LASIK surgery is – by far – the best investment I’ve ever made for my eyes.

Stephen Bisordi

Although I was apprehensive about having surgery, Dr. Batra and his staff made me feel very comfortable. I was relaxed and felt in very capable hands. I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat.

Wende Rose

After 35 years of wearing glasses I had the surgery for Crystalens® implants. It has been two months since the surgery and I have 20/20 vision and getting better each day. The implants’ clarity and sharpness are outstanding. I would recommend the implants to anyone who would be a candidate for the LASIK procedure.
